Mozambique is a country of spectacular beauty with pristine palm-fringed
beaches and the crystal clear Indian Ocean. Laze under the palms or go
snorkelling around the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago, sail on a dhow in
the Quirimbas Archipelago or stroll along the seaside Avenida Marginal where
fishermen hawk their day's catch while banana vendors loll on their carts.
Mozambique is generally warm all year round. Sunshine, blue skies and
temperatures range between 24°C to 27°C along the coast except during the wet
season (December/January to April) when the heavy rains come. Termperatures are
also higher during the rainy season, averaging 30°C and above in some areas. The
best time to visit is from May/June to November during the drier, cooler season.
Malaria medication is recommended for all travellers to Mozambique. Please

Mozambique's greatest attraction is its magnificent 2500km long unspoilt
coastline and idyllic offshore islands. To help you choose the area best suited
to you we have divided the accommodation according to the area the properties
are located in.
Maputo, with its Mediterranean-style architecture, wide avenues lined by
jacarandas and flame trees and waterside setting, is easily one of Africa's most
attractive capitals. Its best to capture the true magic of this interesting old
city, with its buzzing street life, on foot. After breakfast at your hotel, head
to the Praca da Independencia and get an early start on some of the sights. Take
a stroll to the Municipal market andd shop for some textiles along the way. Hire
a laranjinha (brightly coloured taxis) to take you on a ride along Avenida
Marginal to the Costa do Sol restaurant for an unforgettable seafood lunch or
dinner. Other highlights are the Casa Amarela, the Franco-Moçambicano Cultural
Centre and the Mozambique Natural History Museum and for those with a strong
stomach, the local fish market!
Extend your stay with an extension to Inhaca Island. The island is located
about 40km east of Maputo and is accessed by an air shuttle.
The island, a popular weekend destination, is great for anyone who wants to
enjoy the relaxed rhythms of a small, semitropical, Indian Ocean island. Day
trips can be arrange to nearby Portuguese Island and Cabo Santa Maria.

Inhambane, one of its oldest settlements, is one of Mozambique's most
charming towns. From as far back as the 18th century it was an important trading
port but during the 20th century focus shifted southwards and trade declined.
Today Inhambane is a popular holiday destination and its reefs, popular with
divers, are among the best in the world.

The Bazaruto Archipelago is your quintessential tropical island destination.
Clear turquoise waters filled with an abundance and variety of marine life make
this a perfect destination to enjoy diving and snorkelling. Of the 5 islands
that make up the Bazaruto Archipelago, idyllic island accommodation can be found
on Benguerra and Bazaruto islands. These islands are accessed by air shuttle
transfers from Vilanculos on the mainland. Much of this area is protected as a
National Park and all visitors will be charged a mandatory National Park fee.
Benguerra Island was originally named Santa Antonio by Portuguese explorers
and was later named Benguerra after a local Tribal chief. The island is
approximately 11km in length and 5.5km wide and lays 14km offshore from the
mainland and the town of Vilanculos. It offers privacy as an island destination,
and is protected by the lush surroundings.

Pemba, the capital of the Cabo Delgado province, sits on a scenic peninsula
jutting out into the large Pemba Bay. The town is the gateway to the Quirimbas
Archipelago and visitors can enjoy a night at the Pemba Beach Hotel before
travelling on to one or more of the islands. The Quirimbas Archipelago,
consisting of 32 small islands, is totally underdeveloped and a nature lovers
paradise. Patches of white soft sand and turquoise waters alternate with green,
vegetated islands fringed by mangroves. Many of the properties in the
archipelago are part of a National Park and mandatory fees apply.
