Zanzibar falls within a malaria area and your health
practitioner should be consulted prior to your visit. It is also important to
note that some source countries require that citizens are vaccinated against
yellow fever before travelling to Zanzibar, and where this is the case,
immigration authorities will require your vaccination certificate upon your
return.
The island has a great variety of hotels to supplement
the true island splendour of Zanzibar. The "star ratings" of the island hotels
should be taken as an indication and might differ from local standards and it is
advised to read up in full before planning your trip to Zanzibar.

Water sports and fishing
Fishing is very popular in Zanzibar and big game fishing can
also be arranged at most of the hotels. Water sports are also offered by some
hotels.
Shopping
Zanzibar is not a shopping destination for travellers looking for "High Street"
products but traditional arts and crafts stalls can be found at various
locations over the island. Travellers looking at buying Tanzanite on the island
should take caution to only buy from reputable companies as not to buy any
imitations.
Sightseeing Tours
Visitors to the island can choose from a variety of different land and sea
excursions. Visit Stone Town, the historical and cultural heart of
Zanzibar or visit one of many spice gardens on the island.
For ocean lovers: diving, snorkelling, fishing and sailing
trips. From traditional Dhows to powerful speed boats trips, sea-safaris can
take place from just about anywhere on the Island.
